Splash reduction is the headline claim in this product category, and also the least standardized. Every maker says its screen cuts splash; almost none publishes test conditions. This guide explains what in a screen’s design plausibly affects splash, so you can read those claims with the right grain of salt.
The design factors that matter
Surface texture. Screens break up the stream with bristles, spikes or lattice patterns. Longer, denser textures dissipate more energy, which is the physical idea behind every anti-splash claim. How to read the splash claims
The most specific claim in the category belongs to the Fresh Products Wave 3D: the maker says its two-sided design eliminates 97% of splash-back (Fresh Products product page, checked October 2026). That is Fresh Products’ figure, not an independent lab result, and the test conditions behind it are not published on the product page. Treat every such number as the maker’s best-case measurement, useful for comparison within a product line more than across brands.
What a bench test cannot tell you
Even a careful bench test with a fixed fixture, flow and placement says little about every restroom. Aim, water pressure, fixture geometry and user height all vary. The only test that matters is your own fixture: buy a small pack, install it, and look at the floor and the surrounding porcelain after a week of normal use.
